.avi and ogm how to play them

Hi i am new to this site, but signed because i want to download chobits, and so i did, but i can't play the files, i have both windows media player and winam...

I am using just K-lite mega, and VDM... Soemtimes WinDV for taking pics from camera.

Sorry... I only know that VLC can't do it. Try GomPlayer(don't know if it will run under linux...)

Friend is using Some mac OS on standard Desktop, but don't know how he made it work... It looks quite good to tell the truth.

Btw, I found that thing with ATI driver under ubuntu on one Cz forum... I'l just have to translate it. So, maybe tonight.

I think VLC is good for this. I am using it often, and I had only minor problems playing *.WMV files... Don't know why. Or try mplayer.

This can be changed in the settings, but I can't remember where it is. I just know, I did it for a few times.

Yeah I find for .avi's and stuff vlc works nicely but once you get into .mkv's you should really use mpc

vlc and gom play a large amount of stuff. You can even watch anime as it still downloads.

Most fansub groups (and, I, myself, a fansubber) in the industry recommend cccp[/B]-project.net/]Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) because it is a complete, fully-functional codec pack and media player that renders fansubs, especially in .mkv format correctly and efficiently.

VLC use thier own codec pack thats why many fansubs in .mkv (a.k.a. softsub) formar will have the typesetting such as fonts & on-screen translations (e.g. signs) appear incorrectly. -_-#

I highly recommend the use of CCCP for all media-playing! :v:

The KMPlayer all the way for me, does everything all out the box pretty much and only need the one player :bow:

I dont like the fonts on VLC, I like my pretty sub fonts

I just convert the .avi's to MPEG-4 with MPEG Streamclip and watch them on my iPod.
