How do you keep cool during summer?

Well I just trudged though a 40 C (104 F) day today (very high humidity) and I wondered how people keep cool in the summer months. At work we have a freezer that keeps a temperature of -18 C (0 F) which is refreshing, until your nose starts running. At home I have ceiling fan that circles warm air everywhere....

So, how do you keep cool during summer?

Aircon at the university and fan at home. My room has windows to two different sides and its fourth floor so most of the time there is a nice breeze here. Outside it's like a hell and sometimes air-conditioners in buses are not working good

You know I am glad I live in Vermont. The heat here isnt nearly as bad as in, say, Phoenix. The falls and winters here are of northern Canada proportions, and I would not have it any other way. Doubt I will even be moving from here if I can locate some decent work once I graduate from college. The weather keeps me here, as I like the cycles, although the humidity kills me sometimes.

it was like 103 degrees F here and i was stupid enough to run in it lol :P
to keep cool i usually go to the mall or stay in my room with my AC on

do as much in the morning as i can [so i can hide from the heat in the afternoon]!
use a VERY good fan that's just on me
use AC l8tr in the afternoon [kinda poor so we don't run the AC continuously]
pull air thru the house when it cools down @ night

we also have an 8 foot by 32 foot deck out back - and in the afternoon it's in the trees and there's usually a breeze, so on a lot of days we're out there!

My normal body temp is 99.99 degrees F so there's really no such thing as keeping cool but i keep from fainting by dodging the sun like my life depends on it and drinking cool water (or anything cool I can get my hands on) almost constantly.

well you think I'm crazy but i usually open the window and door and let the hot air flow through my room, turn on the fan and then lay on the floor and roll around in search of the cold spots on the floor ..... and eat hot & spicy curry the pain in your mouth will definitely distract you from the heat of your surroundings.

Live in England. That is a definite way of making sure you're cool during summer.

Besides avoiding direct sunlight... it helps if you cool your wrists with cold water and do not dry them with a towel complety... just remove the dripping stuff this helps for me... the refreshing effect doesn't take long but you can redo it.

Try it maybe it helps you too.

usually i go to the beach when summer but if i'm just on the house i just stay at my room with my PC and turn on the ac..
