Gap Year?

I'm thinking of taking a gap year to travel the world, learn different cultures and languages, do some photography work and to maybe write a book.

Everyone I have spoken to is highly against the idea and believes that I should just go study at a University. The thing is I don't fully know what to study (im thinking of Biochemistry, Art, Linguistics or Psychology but i don't know which, maybe even none of them@ .@ )
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or views on gap years,and if they could please share them with me? :please2:

I think you should do what you really want to to, if you like to travel around the world then you should do it. And i think it sounds like a good idea, id like to travel around the world as well and learn different kinds of cultures. Maybe if you take a gap year youll be able to think what to do next if you want to continue with studying or do something else. If you dont know what to study yet you can take a gap year, dont hesistate or stress about thinking what you want to study ( you have a lot of time to think of what you want) instead you should take some time to think and like i said its a good idea to travel around the world and see what you like to do ^^. Then you can decide.
The others who told you to study at the Uni its what they think you should do. But in the end its only your choice that matters! :)

And if you decide to travel the world you can always come and visit Sweden :D If you like going shopping and see nice buildings and eat nice pastries and cakes! ^^

Even I should have taken a gap year and I regret it now. Well for me there's no point to do it anymore but you definetly should :)

Well I'm currently planning a trip with my pal but my current situation don't allow me leash too much. That situation is money and ofcourse my wheelchair does not make it any easier for me but that doesn't matter for me. I'm quite sure that if needed I could get some local help. Money is the biggest one.

working while travelling sounds nice to me :) Business and pleasure. Both of those sounds like a perfect option for me.... I need to clear my mind somehow. Life is not good to me now...

a gap year would be something that even i am thinking of to take...
Jump of university for a year and travel around sounds great, would have done that before Uni instead -.-

Damn i do got some relatives living in the US but i don't even know who they are at all, since they severd the connection totally since my father first and last time visit them when he was 17, now he is 75 years old so think how long they have not keep in touch with other relatives :)

when you are in japan, go to osaka. i can speak from experience, the crabs are the best in the world, plus osaka is the food capital of japan. soo good! and when in australia, be sure to visit the outlands, as watching the joeys is one of the most amazing things that i have ever seen (joeys are kangaroo's)

anyway, lemme know if u wanna stay at my house!

-ps! dont forget to check out an inlet when in florida. they are amazing. the inlets are cool. one i visited had thousands of hermit crabs in the water just milling around. it was really cool.

well a nice trip is always nice.... so you could go around to know much... since after studies and work is harder to do that (at least depending on you work) !!!!

if you come to Guatemala... we could go to party and show some places.... just don't spect to find good things about anime -.- still lack over here

i think you should do just that, fox!! and i'm speaking from a parental type of role ... if EITHER of my kids wanted to take a year [or even two] b4 college, i would have been 4 it!

there are not many opportunities like the freedom of just graduated and not in college yet. i hope you follow your heart and do this!! you are a responsible adult already [i'm TELLING you thet u r!!!], so you WILL go on to college afterward and do something with your life. that's most ppls fears - that you won't go to college AFTER your hiatus - but as smart and driven[?] as you r - that AIN'T gonna happen! unless you land a job with Disney as an animator on their next big film or something like that!!!

don't do what other ppl want you to do in life - do what YOU want to do!!! go ahead and take advice [you'd be stupid not too!], but then weight your options and desires and make your decision from that!

btw - if you DO travel - i live in upstate New York and my wife and i would GLADLY put you up for awhile - for free! [and i REALLY mean that offer foxie!]
