hmmm...tough one because BOTH would be fun...however, I'll go with Steampunk. See, at least they have semi-modern conveniences, like hot showers,toilets that flush, and running water! They also have the lack of some of the plagues that were rampant in the Medieval ages.
I'm also a bit of an alternate-history fan and truly think the world would be a little less polluted, and a little less hurry-up had we instead improved upon steam technology, and found cleaner alternative sources of heat. Imagine the nice slow pace and beauty of seeing modern-day dirigibles in the air. Cleaner transportation. No reliance on gas. No oil shortages or crises, and possibly something better than plastic, per se, developed....like maybe reinforced hemp, which with certain chemicals can be hardened to almost the strength of steel, and yet be more environmentally friendly as it is plant/vegetation matter, and easy to grow.
Along those lines, it would have kept hemp as a cash crop in America and elsewhere, allowing the poorer South American countries an economic boost in fair trade, and help Mexico and South America to thrive... as well as increase the likelihood of Marijuana being developed and used for medicinal purposes in ALL the states as well as other parts of the world.
I believe a steampunk world would have led the way to more job opportunities and a cleaner environment, led to the planting of more trees and proper forestation developments, opened up research in magnetics, solar power, wind power, and hydroelectric power.
A lot of people disagree with me, but...hey, you can't argue the aesthetics! It wouldn't HAVE to be a dirty world full of stripmining, coal, and air polution. I think we would have developed a cleaner solution to those problems eventually, without the need to go into gas, oil, plastics, etc.

ok....now I guess i gotta come up with an either/or....so.....
Would you prefer hand-to-hand combat,face to face, up front, up close, and personal with your enemy.... or modern warfare, such as grenades,guns,missles, etc.... ???
be HONEST, lol! logic says modern, but honor says hand-to-hand (at least in my own opinion)...so what do YOU prefer???
