Cowboy bebop live Action

The latest news i've heard is that fox is producing a live action cowboy bebop movie. Which is great really, but still a tiny bit worrying.
I'm wondering what the movie is going to be based on (the anime, manga or animated movie) or whether it'll be all of them mixed together in some sort of summary to highlight the series.
Will it be westernized for an english speaking audience? Will they cast the characters wrong? Will the soundtrack be written by yoko kanno like the original?
There's alo of things they could do wrong in this film, and i'm sort of hoping the producers give it a finish like they did in A scanner Darkly (totally loved that movie), but maybe (with the help of afew thousand obsessive fans) they'll actually produce a half decent adaptation.
What is everyone elses opinion on this?

Disaster or not, I'd like to see how this turns out. The only other live action anime to movie transition I've seen is Death Note, which wasn't half bad. The quality could potentially be quite intermittent as the movie flashes between scenes of Spike kicking ass, and the real life interpretation of Ed (shudder) doing...whatever Ed does.

Actually Depp would be an interresting choise. I like Reeves too but still Depp might be better. I wonder why there alwas has to be live action too?

OMFG! That was pain to watch. Second film was better, but it was nothing compared to anime. Pretty shitty. I hope, CB won't end like this :(

I am sure, and there is always right & wrong.
But it's true it's subjective. I would prefer Johny Depp more instead of Keanu Reeves. He's more like Spike.

keanu reeves has been confirmed as playing the role of Spike Spiegel It has also been confirmed through Variety in a January 15, 2009 article, that the production company, Sunrise, Inc., will be "closely involved with the development of the English language project" and that Kenji Uchida, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto has been confirmed to be associate producers and that series producer Masahiko Minami has been confirmed as a production consultant. Variety also confirms that Peter Craig is currently attached as screenwriter

I think the live-action series should be based on the manga, because the anime wasn't even though it was still a masterpiece. As for the other stuff:

Will it be westernized for an english speaking audience?

I think it's better if the movie had the same setting and outlook as in the anime, to not lose its originality

Will they cast the characters wrong?

Let's make sure they don't get Hollywood actors in this movie, otherwise it's gonna be SHIT...

Will the soundtrack be written by yoko kanno like the original?

I doubt this, although it would be good to have the original OP/ED get pimped up
