how did I make which one. its being authored in 3d max but you can make it in any 3d program that exports to w3d there are a lot of them, that export to it. but you need adobe director to control and publish it.
I looked at your pictures, you shouldnt be down on yourself, by saying its not that good. everyone has a starting point, to make faces you need to learn some way to construct them. meaning some very simple process that you can use that shows you how to get the placement of the eyes, nose, mouth, etc and head shape. I suggest going with a book on how to draw manga they have a simpler friendlier tone to them comparted to their american counterparts
this uses several circles to get the head shape. using the exact same placement thats used to construct a face on paper I simply appled to 3d. 1 circle for the bottom of the neck another for the top, 1 for the chin that stretched from the chin to the back of the head, 1 for the lips, nose eyes forhead top of the head, etc.

this uses my patented 3 line head shape technique where draw a couple of lines to make the head shape. someone may find this interesting
