well lets talk alittle about this word.
Shōjo or shoujo (少女, Shōjo or shoujo?) is a term used in English to refer to manga and anime aimed at a young, female audience. The term is a transcription of the Japanese 少女, literally girl. The genre is stereotyped as melodramatic stories of romance usually with a female protagonist, and drawn in a flowing style where beautiful characters with huge, intricately drawn eyes become spontaneously surrounded by flowers, stars, and/or bubbles.

I realise that I'm a bit late wading in on this one, but I need to make a small correction, "S.P." is actually a Seinan title, not Shoujo. Beyond the content, it was origanilly serialized in "Dengeki G"; a fairly popular seinan magazine.

That being said, it's a great yuri and a definite read for all fans of shoujo-ai, along with the slightly less in-your-face "Kashimashi". For general reads, I have to include "Azumanga Daioh" and "Strawberry Marshmallow"; "Mahoromatic" is also good, as is "Monster Collector". I could go on, but these are some of my tops (in english, anyway).

There are many Manga that I believe should be read--Yotsuba and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou being high among them, but there is only one manga that I think must be read--Ai Ren. Ignore the Sci-Fi weirdness if you need to, but follow the story of Ikuru and Ren. It is the only manga, and one of the few pieces of lit in any form, that has made me take a look at how I live my own life, and what I actually value. It's that good, but keep the tissues handy.

for top-of-the-line mangas: pretty much any good Shonen Jump mangas that's still going
for anything else:
Maria+Holic (so far, the anime follows the manga and both are amazing; expect hot girls and traps)
Change123 (it's Airmaster, but 50% more ecchi and 50% more violent action)
The World God Only Knows (pretty damn funny)

GTO is one of my favourite mangas. it's even better than the anime!

ai kora, very funny manga
eyeshield 21, tho i think thats ones getting enough props anyway
xxxholic, not sure the amount of publicity for this one but its good
yume de aetara, very funny and a bit of a sob story but its good still
fairy tail, very good manga defs worth a read

Ranma 1/2 is just amazing.
It manages to be hilarious while still maintaining an interesting and addicting plot.
Also, the art is creative and original, it's not like somebody just took a typical manga character and gave it a new name and clothes.

I think it might be on mangavolume; not sure though.

i think imadoki is very good. its my favorite manga. even though its very short its very good.

Hmm.. If I had to say, most of the manga I've read is a must-read. I've recently started Shina Dark and High-School of The Dead, and I must say, they're very good. Both the story and the art is really up to par.

Not to mention that Shina Dark's anime is coming soon. Better catch up or just avoid spoilers and dive right in.
