hmmm... my ideas of a "Must Watch":
Boogiepop Phantom- kindof a cross between horror and the tv show "24", where everything happens in a 24-hr period, from different perspectives. Watch this series carefully! You'll see a storyline, and the character may be at a railway station and pass someone...the next storyline will have different characters, but that character is the person that the first one passed, and one of the scenes will be the same shot from the previous one, from a different perspective. Besides being a decent story, this is one series you need to watch more than once, just to get all the neat twists!
Fist of the North Star- classic fighting anime, the movie is the must-watch, not the series.
Princess Nine- Decent story, Girls playing baseball in Japan... kinda like "A League of Their Own" anime style, but the dvd set had some great extras.
Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)- an all time fave of mine, along with:
Gokusen- kindof the female version. Both are hilarious, as are the live action tv series and movies!
Crying Freeman- a classic, but for some reason few people have even heard of it!
If you like fantasy:
Record of Lodoss War- first watch the OVA series, then watch the TV series, watch Legend of Crystania last. That will give you the best visual chronological order.
Slayers- the first season was probably the best and funniest! Unlike the movies, Naga was not in it. It was just Lina and Gourry, until they met Amelia and Zelgadis in this series.
Yeah, I like some of the classic stuff, lol! But then, I started watching this stuff back in the days when Star Blazers and Battle of the Planets were on tv! :)
