Just got the above DVR it has a USB port for access thumb drives and such.
Has anybody tried to set up an external DVR Player as an external recorder or display converter for getting OGM, MKV and other non-standard video formats off the computer and on to a standard DVD Format disk that I could take to other peoples homes.
Any help and information that others have would be greatly appreciated.

You can try streaming the mkv or ogm and convert it into an avi file. From there you can convert the avi file into a vob file and maybe you could then burn it into dvd format.

Use VLC for the streaming, then WinAVI for the conversion.

Yeah I guess you could use VrtualDub, but only if you had the right codecs.

So bottom line X. When this person converts the mkv in somthing like vob files, how do they make them readable to a standard DVD player?

I think so, but I wonder if you have to convert the files into an iso so the DVD player can autorun it, like with an image disk.

Rocco's from Italy I think. But he boofs anything from eastern europe. Hungary, Slovakia, and yes even the Ukraine.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I have no experience with that, so I'm hoping someone else can help you with that.

No she/he can't, since VD doesn't supports *.mkv files. Instead of that, VDM supports mkv container v 1, which is enough I think.

*.Vob, is standard DVD format, isn't it?

I don't think so. Btw, my player plays *mkv as well as *avi and *vob... And it was some cheap stuff.
