SubZero;8102 wroteHello. I wanted to get people's takes on Kosovo's move for independence and what do you think will be the repercussion if the legislation passes and the territory becomes independent. My personal take is that its a move that those people believe is the right thing for them, and I back them. However, one could also argue that it sets a precedent for other territories, especially Palestine, to declare themselves a state in increasing world disagreement. This could spark global conflicts on the grounds that if one place can suddenly become a state with no particular diplomatic process, then all should be able to. What do you guys think? BTW you do not have to provide links or argue your side vehemently. I only ask your opinion and why you believe what you do.
I also back Kosovo's independence, I've been waiting for this for several years now. I hope this will reduce the tension in the area.
Your point about other territories wanting independence is a good one, however each country has their own history and each conflict is different from another.
One the matter of Israel/Palestina, I don't know what to think, it's very difficult situation they're in, where both parties have made a lot of bad decisions over these decades.
There are people all over the world wanting independence, but if everyone had their independence, the world would consist of thousands of small countries, which would lead to hundreds of wars I'm sure.
