I damn well like my books when I come across one I actually like and/or find engaging. It doesn't matter what genre it is as long as its good or just plain interesting. I hate reading other books until I finish them, even if they are pretty droll/boring.
Babbit took me a month and a half to get through as it wasn't that engaging although it is actually very well written - then I started Jeffery Ford's The Physiognomy and finished it the day after I started. Now I'm reading Deciding What's News by Herbert J. Gans and I know I'm going to finish it in no-time and then move onto The Road... I want to keep on this good reading streak before I run short but I need some assistance here d00ds

So, what are some great books you people of FTP-Anime can recommend me? They can be fiction, scientific case studies, textbooks, philosophy books, fantasy, non-fiction, etc, etc, etc, et-bloody-cetera. All it has to be is a great book and I'll do my best to find it and read it. Heck, I'll even read something as complex as Being and Time. Even one recommendation will help as well as be highly appreciated.

i am a HUGE fan of Louis L'Amour westerns!!!! he's written like 127 or so and unlike Zane Gray [who over explains EVERYTHING] Lous L'Amour has found the right balance of action, explaination/information and love.

in the fantasy genre i like the whole Xanth series by Peirs Anthony, the three trilogies of The Chronicles of Thomas Convenant the Unbeliever, by Stephen Donaldson

in the SciFi genre i like the Dune saga by Frank Herbert and The Foundation Trilogies by Isaac Asimove are FANTASTIC. both are older writings, but they are timeless as the future is always out there.

in the action genre i'm a HUGE fan of The Executioner by Don Pendleton. there are hundreds with all the spinoffs in that saga - 45 or so in the original series.

depends what age group you like. Even when I am in my 20's I still like young adult fiction.
Anyway for fantasy I love Robert Jordan's Wheel of time. Massive epic. He died before finishing the series. So the last book is co-written with Brandon Sanderson. There are 12 books in all, though the 12th book is in 3 volumes.
Steam punk Michael Pryor Laws of Magic Series. Set in Edwardian England just before World War 1. My favourite series of all time.
Sci-Fi I like Jack Campbell The lost Fleet. Good space naval action. Also like Timothy Zahn's Dragonback series, a YA series
Lex Trent by Alex Bell is a funny series about a rogue who really is only for himself.
Pretty much anything by Tom Sniegoski, Though I think the Fallen series is more for girls. But Sleeper Agent (YA) Hellboy and Lobster Johnson novels plus the Remy Chandler Series are good.
Timothy Zahn The Icarus hunt is really good. Haven't read any of his Cobra series or the space rail one, what ever it is called.
Jack Heath writes very good action sci-fi with Six of Hearts Series.
Also don't forget Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote heaps more than Sherlock Holmes. I like Brigadier Gerard short stories, really funny stuff, set in Napoleonic Wars.
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
There are more, but can't think of them at the moment.
