"It's Not My Fault I'm Not That Popular!" is a guilty pleasure of mine. Take a highly socially awkward high school girl named Tomoko, give her many creepy and perverted mannerisms and hobbies, make her want to be more accepted and approachable by her peers, add a dash of meme worthy (Which many in fact are) reaction faces and roll all these things into one and you got this series.
What I enjoy most about this manga is purely the severity of her anxiety can bring her to some bizarre and/or over-thought conclusions (and scenarios) which she thinks up in her head. These can be quite funny and is one of teh reasons why I kept reading this series early on. The fact that she's not some bishoujo as well as basically being "damaged goods" (so to speak) makes this quite refreshing manga to read. Sometimes, you just want her to succeed because for how much she tries, although you also wish for her to be herself as well. You really start to identify what she is going through and that's what I enjoy about this series the most - as well as being pretty funny at times.
There also are many instances where Tomoko questions what would help her more popular. These things range from changing her clothing style, trying to start conversations with others, speaking in a specific manner, enhancing her beauty, etc. I love this aspect of the series because she really does try her hardest to be successful in changing herself, only to be defeated by her own nature. The character is growing slowly and although there are only a few volumes out yet, there will probably be more things to come.
I'd recommend this series for older audiences due to somewhat mature subject matter. if you're interested you can easily find this online to read - give it a read and see what you think!
