So, would anyone be interested in doing an RP version of Dungeons and Dragons Pathfinder 3.5 as an RPG?
We could do an entire campaign or one shots. I think it would be cool to run through some encounters on a forum board. I could be the dungeon master and anyone who wanted to join could be the players.
I feel that one shot encounters with stats and equipment that would carry over would be good ideas. Clearly, the rules would have to be modified to fit the conditions and boundaries that a forum has to offer, but I think it would be a cool idea.
DM: The players have entered a town. This small town has asked for any adventurers who are willing to help them deal with a magical problem. An old wizard who has been living in an Abby on the outskirts of town has disappeared, and now odd shimmering blue lights, something clearly of magical nature, have been appearing from the top of the hill. The town would like the adventurers to go into the Abby and find out what has been going on.
DM: The players have reached the Abby. The doors are shut, and there are two crossed swords and the magicians seal over the door. Any windows are out of reach. What are the players going to do.
P1: My character reaches up and pushes on the door.
P2: My character examines the seal and swords.
DM: The door is clearly shut and locked, any attempt to push the door open clearly wont work. However, by examining the seal, P2 manages to find a key.
P2: My character uses the key to open the door.
P1: My character gets ready to follow.
DM: The characters enter the door. To their left are two small and flimsy doors, and to the direct front are two large oak doors. Standing at the end of the corridor is a large spider. Player one gets the first attack, player two gets the second, spider gets the third.
P1: My character readies his sword is an offensive stance. Getting ready, he charges forward and swings at the spider.
P2: My character unslings her bow. After P1 takes his swing, she shouts at him to move out of the way and takes a shot.
DM: After the P1 takes the swing, the spider is clearly hurt, but not quite dead yet. However, P2's arrow swings forward and hits the spider square in one of it's eyes. It falls to the ground dead before it even gets a chance to attack. What would the players like to do now.
P1: My character goes up to the spider and tries to search for anything useful. After that he goes up to one of the small doors and tries to open it.
P2: My character goes to the other small door and tries to open it.
DM: The door that P2 has opened is clearly a coat closet of some sorts. Old and tattered rags hang from their hangers, and what was clearly once a magnificent robe now sits there.
The door that P1 has opened is an odd sight. There are melted metals of all various colors in the room. In addition, there is a small hole in the wall that is the size of an adult fist. What do the players want to do?
And the game would continue as such, and after an encounter I would be more then willing to let others take a break and play as DM.
In addition, we would have to try and be online at the same time so that we can spend an hr or so and make it through the encounter in one sitting or we can do it over time if we cant make it on together. Either works for me.
As for characters, I can make some character sheets with information and stats and stuff the DM would use for the characters and enemies. I could also make some basic weapons sheets to choose a weapon or two from, but id rather have you guys choose your own unique weapons. Remember though, this is a fantasy world where gunpowder does not exist. Weapons range from poisoned daggers to crossbows though, and if you are not sure of what weapons are acceptable, by all means feel free to ask.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
