Remaking Games of Legend

Ok, for awhile now I've started to realize that the game industries well is drying out for ideas on new games, so instead they are doing alot of remakes- Now I'm not saying thats a bad thing and not all industries are doing this, but most of the big companies like: Square Enix and Nintendo are definitely doing it. I could relive the glory days of great games like Ocarina of time (Nintendo 3DS) or another off shoot to the FF7 series, but it just gets so redundant after awhile- I mean... everytime they put out a new console/handheld, they just remake one of their successful titles... Ugh! Y'know, if they want to remake games... They should really go for the underrated ones! Another series of Chrono Trigger/Cross would be magnificent! Uhhh, Dragoon Warriors, FF6, Vagrant stories, Castlevania SOTN, etc, etc! I just feel that they have overdone the other titles now.

What do you all think/thoughts? Which games should be remade?

I do want SotN to be remade..not the story but the graphics >_< I want to play it on my HD screen. Rayman Origins and Bloodrayne Betrayal proves that 2D games is still alive AND LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. You guys should look at the trailers of those games.

Furthermore, I also want these games to have a remake (In terms of graphics not the story or the gameplay) Legend of Legaia, FF8, MGS, all the Megaman X to X6.

sony has made Shining Force 1 & 2 available for the ps3 ... but i'd love to see a remake with newer graphics and battle scenes!!!!

My biggest problem with certain remakes is that too many developers have heavily depended on physics - so much so that some games have become less enjoyable for me to play nowadays(i.e. Super Mario Bros. for the Wii -.- ).

But on the other hand I did find that they've remade Rush N Attack from the old arcade/NES days into a very simple and enjoyable remake:happy:

@ chronofox - I'd love to see Squall's story remade as well (it's one of my personal favorite FF games), but it just didn't generate the following of FF 7 and therefore won't get the nod from Square - it's definitely on my wishlist too though:sorry:

The megaman series would be an awesome remake.
I would like them to remake or make new games of Banjo Kazooie. I am just playing Breath of Fire 3 on a PS1 emulator and it is as fun as the first two games, they should remake games like that. With heaps of replay value, or just taking ages to finish.
They put both God of War titles on the PS3 and for guys like me who missed out on getting a PS2 and couldn't be bothered to read up the hype on certain games. It is a good way to pull me into the series and gather more fans, so the next game will sell better.
I always did love Medal Of Honour: Underground, Colin MaCrae Rally, Syphon Filter 1 and 2 and MGS on the playstation, good games good fun and it would be cool if they revamped them all.

This doesn't always work but MGS: Twin Snakes proves it can. When big companies do remakes they tend try to force in newer ideas that don't fit and mess elements of the original game.

I think the linearity FFXIII had more to do with being in service to the story than the graphic, I've not heard that before.

Yes, definitely Legend of Legaia! I would even love to see a remake for FF8 as well. I do believe Square Enix saying that there is a possibility of FF7 remake being worked on, obviously after FF13 Agito, but there's just to many factors that would make this project seem like a no go anyway. They just don't have the manpower to do that remake. They said the reason FF13 was so linear was because of the huge graphics... Since FF7 took like 4-5 years to complete before, they said, it would take another 4-5 years on top of that to get a remake done...

I really want to get that sonic game- I think it's called Sonic Generations, it looks awesome! If the Mega Man series was redone as beautifully as that sonic game, I'd definitely go out there and buy it.
