I've got a couple of characters on the back burner just for a setting like this so i'm in.

As for the zombies, while I prefer runners, it doesn't matter to me. I agree with desertleo on starting far from the police station though.
I'd suggest the apartment complex

I imagine they wouldn't become harder to kill as they decay so i think they should be able to survive all but brain trauma from the start making runners a serious threat

Since we're dealing with magical zombies i'd suggest the hospital being under the Heli app Building since it's roughly in the middle of the map and can serve as a source of the zombies what with the morgue and all.

Yeah with a magical twist. Being magical zombies I imagine they would come from the dead being awakened by a magical spell either purposely or from someone tampering with magics they don't understand.
There should be at least one main character with magical abilities (low level so they're not too useful but able to recognize that it was a spell that caused this)

I rewrote the whole thing after making it a bit bigger ^^
If everyone uses this map as a starting point all should be clear
There are still some allies that aren't named yet
Are we going to name those or just let them be?
And what about the buildings without use
Just storage rooms? At least that was my first guess

Let's see, now I finally understand the difference
Shamblers are cool, but runners are more dangerous lol
So in High School of the Dead the zombies are Shamblers
Will our shamblers be blind as well and only react to sound?
Or will they be improved lol

I'm a slug so I'd get caught fairly easily in real life XD

Well I don't see a school or nursery on there
Could add to the dramatic effect or something lol

Anyway...

I guess I'll live in the 5th apartment complex...
I was planning to be a nurse
But seeing as the Hospital is so far away and in the danger zone lol
I might just not be on duty or something when the zombies come

I wouldn't mind being a shopkeeper in the general store either really
Just don't put me in zombie land all by myself XD

On the other hand it would be quite something to hide out in the water tower
And wait for help to come...
But oh well if I just have to wait for others it might end up being boring

Just go with the idea that fits the RP best I'd say

about the heli platform hospital idea...
I tried to figure out why the heli thing wasn't on top of the hospital
but I don't really mind

please don't let the hospital fall into the hands of the zombies :P
we'll be in trouble if someone gets sick or hurt since there are no medical supplies
but someone using the corpses from the morgue to create zombies is pretty likely
nice idea :)

what about adding a psychiatric ward somewhere too? or a prison?
there'd be a mass outbreak due to the zombies and it would give more variety?
(addicted zombies or something? lol)

If it's escape, then where are we supposed to escape too?

And if it's simply survive, then for how long?
Until all the zombies are exterminated?

Finding out what caused it and finding a way to end it would be nice yeah

Oh and we should have some limitations in character design as well shouldn't we?

Or are we using "hand out characters"?
(you know the moderator creates characters and assigns them to us)

I've actually thought about this situation many times before, so I actually might participate in this one if no one minds of course.

As for where we should start out, maybe furthest away from the police station? At least in this way people won't get over-powered guns or other weapons right away.

Somehow I feel the rp would last longer if we had something other than just survival, like trying to find out how everything ended up the way it has. Nothing wrong with the survival scenario, but it would be better if there was another plot device to drive the rp. At least in this way the survivors have a purpose in doing what ever they end up doing.
