Possible meanings of Ichigo

ok, so I am watching the Bleach series and am about 125 episodes in, and I wanted to ask about the main characters name, which is Ichigo.

So I get that he's 15 years old and that Ichi means one and go means 5 (though by episode 125 he HAS to be 16 years old) and he has a sign on his bedroom door that says "15" and all that.

But I also THOUGHT that Ichigo was the word for 'strawberry' and that it was a reference to his oddly colored orange hair, and that it is usually a GIRLS name. So yes, his hair is orange, and strawberries are usually red, but there is hair that is called 'strawberrry blonde' that also is NOT actually red. So what I'm asking is if his name is ALSO 'strawberry'?

Also I sort of assumed thats why he looks angry all the time, cause he got picked on for his hair and having a girls name, and thus he ALSO learned to fight at a very young age. So my second question is, does that seem plausible?

Any insight into the name Ichigo would be greatly appreciated!

PS in the episode I'm watching right now, Ichigo's sister refers to him as 'Ichi-nii' as in Ichigo Oniisan. But I think its another pun too, cause that makes his name ONE TWO, doesn't it? :)

I actually thought of that after I posted the original message. So it isn't just me who thinks up silly jokes! I love how the Japanese so often put word play in Anime, I think it shows the playful side.

On a more serious note, the news reports seem amazed at how calm, organized, and determined the people are after the earthquake, tsunami and radiation problems. Just one more reason to admire the culture we are all fans of

Sorry I can't be more helpful as the two meanings you already said are the ones I considered as meanings.

Edit: Ok I looked up some more Kanji which might be building up his name.
According to google

一期: Term, half year

The only other possibility I found would be the Ichi Language, which is not really plausible.^^
BTW: Strawberry is apparently written with one Character 苺

The name Kurosaki can be broken down to mean "Dark Destination" which can apply to several things within the series. This can mean Ichigo's battle of wills with his Hollow Self, as well as the fact that his family has met with much difficulty as a result of the spirit world, which took away Ichigo's mother, and constantly threatens his family..:notes:
