Clueless Male leads in Anime

Why are the male leads in anime so clueless when multiple girls like them, i'll give 2 examples the baka in the anime Kampfer, he cannot understrand why the girls around him do the things they do to him.. clueless:astonished: The next example is from the anime Asobi ni Iku yo, again he is clueless that the 3 main females like him, why there are lots of clues-.-

Yea I agree with Ichika Orimura too.
Another I would want to add is the Main Character of Guilty Crown. For not only being clueless but being stupid too >_>

Most likely he will become a "great" leader to all. Lately anime's are running the same story over and over again. I'm really hoping some new original stories will be made like. GiTS and GTO had. Those are good anime's

EH, i don't know about that, As the first male IS pilot, his new reputation has made him somewhat famous, although he is still oblivious to the fact several girls have feelings for him. Well after getting his memories back of how he used 2 be and the fact that he lost his sister and his best friend and those pricks are still out there, i don't think he will remain the timid little mouse that started the series..:onion224
Then again i don't think he is really clueless, he knows Hare likes him, but he likes Inori, and she is a little strange..:notes:
It seems i spoke 2 soon, remembering who u were and changing to that person i see is impossible for Shu, but what will he do now, will he remain a mouse or become a lion to save not just his friends and schoolmates but all in loop 7..^_

The show would be quite boring if the lead knew he had multiple women who liked him. There's no suspense if you know that the lead is just dragging the women along, if anything, it would make me like him less. If the lead knew what the situation was, that would eliminate most of the premise of the show, then what would you watch for?

And there are some rare cases where the male lead realizes what is going on, but acts clueless either because he can't choose between the girls, because he likes the attention or is just to naive and innocent to notice it

Tamaki from OHS, in the beginning of the anime he doesn't know that he likes haruhi.

well this is just my guess, id say its so that the average male viewer can have an open interpretation to the story and the character relationships within it.

and the male leads are usually generic looking and are average, probably so that theres less chance of people hating the male lead,, a generic male lead would be something most viewers can relate to

Perhaps not all of them. I think the guy in Nagasarete Airantou knows that the girls like him. If not, he's incredibly dense...though he doesn't know that the main girl likes him too. Which is sad. -.-;

The problem is that it's supposed to be a harem show, or just a fantasy for guys where multiple girls are in love with them. If the guy isn't clueless, he'd just act smart and pick a girl, but no, they have to keep the harem alive. To the point where things get ridiculous.

I dislike these kinds of series as well, yeah.
