I've been searching for a while without success for a great anime, you forum members, you are my last hope.

So the thing is, I've most enjoyed Death note and Code geass until now, they offer a simple start ( an strange power) and based on this start a complex story is developed. The problem with these full of strategy anime is that, in some of them the autor just comes with a random rule/power to explain holes in story.

Well, anyways, can you suggest me something in style of these two masterpieces?

hmmm....

The ones that come to my mind are maybe:

Neon Genesis : Evangelion
Ergo Proxy
Eureka 7

Those are similar in length and complexity, sci-fi based, and also dark-ish, style-wise.

I'm not that much of a sci-fi / mystery person,
but I do like those 2
