Return to Combat Arms

Lately, I've been thinking of returning to Combat Arms and starting anew. For those who don't know Combat Arms (from here on referred as CA) is an online first-person shooter from nexon that's free to play. For something that's free to play it has a huge gaming community so there's always someone to challenge.

The reason why I'm asking is that when I used to play CA, there was an extremely bad case of hackers. Almost every room had at least one or two hackers in them and it was hard to find a fair match. So I'm asking any one who is or has played CA in the last few months, how bad is the hacking problem now? I don't want to download a game only to find out that I'm getting wasted by someone who's shooting me from across the map through every wall...

Its pretty easy to hear footsteps so..I guess I kinda used that. I'll pause every hallway or doors to listen to the footsteps then quick pre-aim and shoot them muhahaha

File size is 1gb :O kinda surprising for a free fps game :)

I played competitively before (CS1.3 <- yea its old, and Soldier Front), Modern Warfare 2 seems to having this...hacker problems and bad company 2 lost its interest (until Vietnam DLC).

Of course I also play a lot of single player fps game. Is Combat Arms fun?? I mean does it have a mass of hackers every game? If its like every 1 hacker per 5 games maybe I'll try CA again.

Wow! I can't say I've gotten a score like that. I'm more like 2 kills for every 1 death...

So how's your set-up? I mean what is your weapon set?

So you've played the beta before, huh? Nice! I didn't catch a ride on the CA train until maybe 4 months into the final product.

I play a bunch of fps'! Though I don't play the ones you listed off since I don't have a decent gaming pc or any of the consoles they belong to. I really want to get into those games though, I even know the map lay-outs for some of them despite the fact I've never actually played them.

The last time I played CA I was actually pretty good, however no matter how good I am I couldn't compete with all the hackers. Recently though the hacking has died down a lot from the last time I played but you still get OPKs, flyers, and aimbots...just not as much as before. If I had to give a ratio probably 1 in 8-9 open rooms have a hacker now. Before it was like hacker vs. hacker in every room and I got tired of it then quit. But by all means try it out again! It might be a little frustrating with all the whiners though...

That's one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to play online, but it's the whole idea of a new challenge every time you start a match that keeps sucking my in. I'm naturally a competitive person when it comes to online gaming; I mean when someone asks me to go easy on them I can't, I give it my all pretty much all the time.

You're quite welcome! I just thought maybe if someone was reading my thread and if they never heard of it, they might become interested and start playing. As far as I know I think I'm the only one here who plays CA, no worries though.:balloon:

Yea, it's pretty big for something that's free.

Oh just a heads up before you start, there will be quite a handful of players who have OP weapons in beginning. I'm sure you've noticed that Nexon has surveys and trials that you can sign up for that earn you NX points, so there will be players who have NX right away.

Nice strategy! Applying what you learned from other fps' I see. Just be careful people might think you're chamming cause of your pre-fire. Nexon has brought down the ban hammer really hard on hackers recently and they take reports more seriously than before.

The set-up I'm using is the g36, l96 and the anaconda for a sidearm.

By-the-way what's your gamertag?

Cool I'll send you a friend request in-game. Be on the lookout for a request from Alruna. Yea, that's right I chose the female base than the male one. I wanted to avoid getting randomly shot in the nuts.
