Ok, this may be a little late as an answer, but well...don't wanna leave this as is :P

I don't realy hate french. The language sounds nice and all and i sometimes even listen to french music (alizée), but i so DON'T wanna learn it.

Why? Cause i suck at it :S
french grammar is so much more complicated than english. I had to learn it at school and it was my worst subject for 4 years.
And thats the whole reason why i'd rather not speak it -.-

ill excuse u this time lol .....lekin ainda koi bhasha ko apaman mat karna(but from now on dont disrespect any language)hehe...i thought id add an indian flavour to this thread

I speak fluently English, Hungarian and Serbian.
I'm pretty good in Japanese and French.
so I like learning languages...

Mistak

My fluently spoken languages are English and German.

I had 3 years of French lessons ( u.u when you are too young and naive) ,
but I doubt that I can speak it anymore.
(ATM I'm trying to learn it again)

I also tried to learn Japananese a while ago,
but it's way too complex, costs plenty of time and
I didn't continue with it,

but respect to the ones !hello who can finalize
with the learning of this language
(and who then also can speak and read it fluently !bravo ).

I presume we have a similar amount of turkish people in germany like you have in netherlands, but I dont know any turkish word....:(

And some bits of

Chinese - very few bits. Nihao! Mingzi Shinra! (Hello! My name is Shinra! --- sorry, the letters don't give the correct pronounciation, which is decisive about a word's meaning in Chinese)
Japanese

And propbly some minor parts of Turkish, Arabic, Russian and whatnot.

And I'd really like to learn Zulu or Gaelic one day... ^^

Hmmm, I decided to contribute a bit...

Fluently: Slovak, Czech, English, German

Understand: Slavonic languages - Russian(and related languages), Serbian, Croatian...(sorry if I missed some) a bit Polish and Bulgarian. I can't speak much, but if you speak slowly, I understand(confirmed on holiday in some of these countries and with friends from this countries)

Learning: Japanese, Spanish, French.

we can try :) I gladly try my language skills. Btw, In Bosna do you write with azbuka or with latin? I know that croatian write in latin but I have seen some serbian writings in latin and in azbuka too, so which one are you really using? O.o

yup... thx for solving my dilema :) I can read azbuka(or cyrilic, however, there are som differences between russian and bulgarian for example even if it is the same base ) and latin tooo.. and now pretty much from basic hiragana, but compound signs make some problems to me..

well i always thought i knew a lot of langs compared to europeans not indians, most know a hell of a lot more langs(one of my teachers knows about 12-13 langs)....guess i was proven wrong...damn!

12-13 langs?? or are that only dialects...?<.<?

LOL, There is nothing like a more or less difficult language, they are all the same, the point is, that U are used to one's grammar and some other type of grammar which is not similar could be difficult. I think, that once you got the language branch grammar (Like Slavonian, or german or romance(include cough[COLOR="Red"][SIZE="5"]FRENCH[/SIZE][/COLOR]cough)) you will understand the other as well.

I dont really know what time frame you talk about there or the age of the person trying to learn. The fact is, the younger you are, the better. The older, the more challenging.

This is just in making your time for learning - the younger you are, the more time to learn you have... I Doesn't depend on specific age or something... just try it as soon as possible.

That's not true, the way kids learn languages is very different than the way adults do. That's why kids always pick up languages much better and faster than adults do.
