I'm curious of what languages you speak. Only name the languages you speak fluently, not the ones you only know a few words of. Also give a list of...

I'm a native English speaker, but I know various amounts of a lot of other langauges because I am getting my degree in Linguistics, and I am a massive fan of conlanging. I can use rudimentary Japanese, Latin, Italian, Spanish, and a conlang called Itlani. And maybe a tad of German. Outside of that I know a bits and pieces of many other langauges, but even if I know a lot, it's not stuff that I could combine into conversation in any meaningful way.

Anyway, Rio, good for you learning some swedish. I wouldn't know where to start, since I don't know where in the states they teach swedish... private lessons, I guess?

5 months is a long time. I'm probably doing a study abroad (3 months?) through my college in either Italy or Japan. So I'm taking Italian now, and if I can ever find room in my schedule, I'll be adding Japanese. Of course, my major is linguistics, so I would take those classes even if I wasn't planning to go to the countries.:hanabi:

oooh thats awesome!! heehee im also going to Italy! and japan :blush2: but i'll only be spending a few weeks in Italy so i dont really need to learn the language. I'll be spending 5 months in Japan so i better start learning more lol

Hmm. I've never actually gotten to take a class. The teacher at my highschool quit before I could take it there, and it was full-up this year in college. But I learned quite a bit from anime.

To be honest, I don't know that many kanji. I let the computer convert from hiragana. The pure hiragana are あなたは、まいにちべんきょうしますか。 Anata-ha, mainichi benkyou shimasu ka.

I would like to learn Farsi as well, although there are several other languages above it on my list.

I know several people who speak it, and it is a lovely language.

My college doesn't have the forst Japanese class in Spring and it was full last fall, but I'm taking it next year. I'm preparing by learning the kana and as many kanji as I can.
