Hi I'm Koueihou and I'm just shy of 30 years old. I'm in the timezone GMT+8 and in the Southern Hemisphere so I'll leave it to you stalkers out there to figure that one out.
I do like my anime but thats a given since I'm here. A certain moderator lead me to this site so I decided to register so I can contribute to discussions and share what little knowledge I have.
I'm not particularly fussy about what I watch. I will give every show in a season at least one change before deciding to watch or drop it. I do tend to prefer sci-fi and fantasy stuff but I do watch just about anything. I think I started with either astroboy or voltron, I don't remember anymore. But I do remember being enchanted by these cartoons where the lips didn't really sync with the words and sentences seemed quite forced and unnatural. As the years dragged on, I consumed the usual diet of dubbed anime on tv. It wasn't until I was in university where I joined the local anime club that the true world of anime opened up to me. I learned new terms like subs, raws, hentai, shoujo, shounen and my narrow view of anime, the almost innocent concept that cartoons are simply for children, was well and truly shattered.
These days I've become a very diverse consumer of anime. I now attempt to keep on the bleeding edge of what is produced and aired. Along the way I learned Japanese, bypassing the need for subs and dubs. Eventually I even started to give back to the community by way of fansubbing. I've performed almost every single role in a fansubbing group. Some roles were easier for me than others. I was fairly good at translating but was almost useless in encoding.
I do actually have a life outside of anime. I write for a living(if you call writing instruction manuals "writing") and I also do a bit of software testing. I preferred form of exercise is MMA and swimming. When I get the chance I play a bit of bass, piano or drums. I try to get others to play anime music with me but its not always easy to convince them to do so.
Anyhow, I hope that I can make a decent contribution to this forum and I hope I don't offend too many people along the way.
