Hey all, sorry I disappeared for awhile but things have been hectic, to say the least.
A bit of a rundown-
You are aware that I was back to school for an Associate's degree in paralegal, and my last report I stated that I had also completed several classes needed to earn a diploma as Personal Computer Specialist as well...... the GOOD news is that I graduated and earned my degree! YAY! The BAD news is that unlike most schools who would honor a student going above and beyond, and completing things in another program as well, THIS idiotic place refuses to acknowledge my achievement with that extra diploma. To top it off, the Dean said he'd at least write an official notice at least giving me credit and acknowledging that I had completed the courses required to give me the diploma.... well, I went back to the school for another degree, this one in Microcomputer Applications and have been there for about 3 terms now at least...and the S.O.B. has yet to write it!
And....I am almost finished with this program LOL! And,call me a glutton for punishment, but I have signed up yet again for a third and hopefully FINAL program- Graphic Design & Multimedia !
Now to top things off, it appears there may be a financial discrepancy, and I may be paying for a class I am not being given. Let me tell you, this place is frustrating beyond belief! I have straightened this out with them 3 or 4 times already, only to have it come back to haunt me yet again! The problem is, there's not many jobs in my area, especially in Paralegal let alone anything else, so I kindof need to stay in school a bit longer...which sucks, being 43 years old and having a family. At least my wife still has her job, but it would be nice if I was able to work again SOON!!! So, I really don't have the leisure to go to a full "regular" college for 4 years, when each semester costs more than what I am paying for Business School.
on a financial "good note", only my original program, Paralegal, was full price, at about $28,000. By taking the computer courses I took, and the business and General Education classes, I was able to get credit for them, giving me only a few classes needed to complete this degree...so basically with grants and such, I am only paying about 1/4 the amount I paid for my first program, around $7,000 ! AND, as all I have left at this moment are electives and two classes instead of an internship, I am using them to take the computer courses I need for the Digital Graphics/Multimedia program..... which will leave me needing only a couple core courses and an internship... at about the same price or less! So, by staying in this school, I have basically payed for one degree, and gotten two more for half the price of one!
And the instructors and classes are great...it's just the administration that has it's collective head up its butt, lol!
So...that's where I have been and why I haven't been hanging out here lately. I did happen to get my Microsoft certifications in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, though, and on top of other classes I have been taking a very informative class on PC Tech and Repair. Even have a nice 1000+ page hardcover manual for A+ Certification in it, as well as a thick workbook, and a cheap but handy toolkit! Used it to build myself a computer specifically for running Linux UbuntuStudio with all the programs for 2d&3d graphics, audio, and video production. :bravo:
ok, that's my "update" lol! I do think I'll be letting my daughters hang out here though, so I'll let ya'all know when they join (if they let me!) If any of you happen to like reading fan fiction, go to the fan fiction site and read the Pokemon/Hetalia fan fic my one daughter has been writing. My other daughter has written some stuff too, but can't remember what it's about at the moment. I'll see if I can get any of them to post their own stuff around here.
Take care for now! I gotta catch up on some reading and posting! TTYL!
