ok... here's another one, works fantastic, and is free and legal.
It's called SUPER (Google it)...has built in codecs, can strip audio from video (to make a nice mp3 out of that youtube vid!), you can also "pad" a video (useful for those videos that the subtitles disappear at the bottom of your tv! Simply add a slight buffer pad to all sides equally so you don;t get a goofy pic, and voila! You can read your subs again too!)
I believe you should always keep more than one audio and video conversion program in your arsenal, as they do NOT all work equally! Some are more update, or work better on some things and crappy on others...there's some dvd ripper/converters I will NOT use, as they add lines to the final product!
Super is a fantastic one to use, especially if you have a good pc with strong resources. The better the PC, the better Super works! (latest 2 builds are better too, they work a lot faster, and even work on a crappy Pentium3 laptop with a small HD and only 256Ram!
It's really easy to figure out too. Just my own recommendation!
