ok...don't know if anyone has done this or not, but as I was just aggravated by a "pet peeve", figured I'd start a thread like this, and you all can join in ifya like!
Just post your own pet peeve, aggravation, response, whatever.... but please be respectful with each other. I'm not trying to start a flame here, just a rant!
Here's mine, to start....
Dontcha hate.... when you spend time downloading a movie, that has been split with something like HJSplit, take the time to put it together.... and find out AFTERWARDS that:
1- the subtitles were NOT included, and
2- The name of the coder/group was not included to make it easier to FIND the PROPER srt or sub file
and
3- there is MORE than ONE ???!!!
geez..... sorry, but one would think it goes without saying... if a movie is posted on a site with more than just one language-speaking user (IE like this site), if the movie is in a particular language, that it should be posted WITH the movie details.... and if it happens that one would need subtitles for a particular language (English for example, or Cantonese, or French), that if you don;t have a hard-or soft-coded sub WITH that particular movie, some sort of information be given in the post to that extent, or the name of the coder/group (Such as GayGay, for example) be posted so that a person could find the proper sub file???
ok, yeah...I'm ranting a little, lol! But... seriously, my own example is from a post here, a J-Drama called Invitation Only. Post doesn't say "Japanese ONLY", if in fact it is Japanese....there are one or two english-speaking parts, rather brief.... The movie, instead of being .rar'd and a soft-sub included, or being hardsubbed, is in HJSplit format. No information tagged in the properties, no information on the coder group, no idea what sub to use...
So, being mildly experienced, I at least did a search.... found more than one, so now I have to try BOTH, see which one has the best sync-up and the "best" translation, and hardcode it myself.
Normally I don't mind...as I said, I do have some experience.... but I DO like to at least be informed! That gives me an option whether or not to waste my time on it.
On a good note, it does look good. On a bad note, in order to enjoy it properly, I have had to spend about an hour or two in downloading, then another 10-15 minutes locating and downloading subs, I'll have to open and view them for similarities/differences,then I'll have to try and sync up each one and watch carefully for at LEAST 10-15 minutes each to be certain it stays synced, and THEN I'll have to try to hardcode the best one in myself, which will take about 45 minutes to 1/12 hrs, IF it works the first time, and sometimes that isn't the case. If it doesn't, I'll have to code it to a different format first before REcoding it to the XVid I generally use....suffice it to say I use a device called a CW100R, and a 1TB usb drive, and watch dl'd movies on my tv in XVid format. no, due to location and wiring, running sound wires and s-video cable from this old POS pentium3 laptop to the 200lb. Sony Trinitron is not an option, LMAO!
Anyhow, a simple 1 hr dl has turned into at least a 3 hr CHORE.
Dontcha hate that????
LOL! ok, I'm off my soapbox, lol!
Who's next?
Have fun with this.... ranting is good for the soul!
