I suppose it's only really exciting for people that live in the U.S., but I can see why it's not so appealing when it's practically a drive away. To each is own, am I right?

I live in a tourist destination so I can relate to the guy from Amsterdam who wonders what the big deal is. But to answer the question I would definetly go to the Maldives Islands. Expensive to get to. Expensive to stay. Beautiful! Scuba diving suppose to be great! Have to hurry though. Islands are sinking. Uh... I mean water is rising.
