True enough, children are almost demoniac at times, not to mention the expense and sacrifice needed to raise one. However, its is not all that illogical in terms of species survival. We don't last forever so we need offspring, because this is done with two separate halves of genetic code, diverse offspring are made. These diverse offspring of course varying advantages and disadvantages, however, with this great deal of diversity human kind are ensured a haven of survival... of sorts. You see, of something kills subject A that does not mean it will kill subject B,C, and so on. Is is key to our survival, if we were produced all the same we could all easily be wiped out by disease.
Leaving the science behind, you must admit to create a spawn bestowed with your wisdom and view of the world can be quite vexing. You hope that they will go forth in the world and influence it the way you want it. Do what you were unable, exceed your own actions, and become what you dreamed you could be. But most of all you do it for the sake of your preservation, by bestowing your values and etcetera you place a piece of yourself in your child, which they may pass on for generations.
Of course this romanticized view does not do justice to reality. Many look for children simply because their won selfish reasons demand it. some are made for exploitation - who wouldn't like a kid who was rich and or/famous who could by you a nice place and living?
Others are accidental... not much needed to say there.
Illogical as it may be, with this (as we all know) we wouldn't be here, and even if your parent wasn't what they could of been, without them you wouldn't be who you are, both in body and mind.
Also, humans aren't very logical most of the time :uh-oh:
