I just got done watching a short series called "Hatsu Inu" and was wondering what one of the mean characters names mean. Her name is "Fujino." Anyone know the meaning?

I know that it's a bump, but I felt the need to reply =D

Fujino means Wisteria fields here. Fuji = wisteria (a tree?) and No = field.

So what vermilion said here is generally correct, but the same goes for English (and Dutch, etc) names. (Johnson = son of John of course; in English and Dutch, many last names are based on the fathers name (patronym)) In Japanese, most names are based on the region/surroundings of origin, as Fujino here.

There are some kanji that are often used in (last) names, and if you know those, you can redirect a lot of names from there.
