Opinions on cheating / hacking in games

What does everyone think about hacking / cheating in games? Personally I think that some cheating / hacking are ok, as long as it's single player or done with consent of other players.

Cheating/hacking is for noobs, the end. lol
Especially in MMORPGs it can get so freakin' annoying with all the hackers who cant pwn someone without the hacks.
The only time I find it's okay to use cheats, is when you're playing offline, on your own and you've already finished the game and just want to try out some cheats for fun.
I never use cheats to finish a game.

when i play the sims i cheat to get more money :P but like gunz game/online games i hate people who cheats/hacking.. -.- so i think its ok if you play alone but not together.

I cheat only if I'm not gonna seriously play the game(or have beaten the game), and the only cheat I ever done is savestate in emu:) I always think that if you cheat, especially in a RPG or a strong story based game, it will ruin everything!!! and I mean everything!!!

Kefka is very tough, I tried several times to beat him .... and somehow after a rigorous training I beat the hell out of him, and it's a satisfaction I wouldn't feel if I used cheat at that time (but that's just my POV)

When its single player I do it all the time simply to make a game less frustrating and more enjoyable. I dont cheat online however.

I use Cheats all the time in Single Player games only but if they have Multi-player then never during Online Play :)
To me playing with cheats is fun.. Cause all I want to do is end the game, know the story and beat the living hell out of bad guys and monsters muhahaha

Anyways after that I used to Cheat on Nintendo games on the emulator and later on PC games like GTA and other games
But I do prefer to end games that I really like at first glance without cheats and then end it again with cheats
EG: I played Max Payne 1&2 first without cheats and it took me a week
then after couple of months I felt like playing it again so this time I used cheats and ended it in one day :D
But I got to have fun with Super Jump and unlimited Molotov Cocktails :onion2:

i play the game without cheats first (sp) then i go through with cheats and mess around...
online, i feel that jumping glitches are fine (getting onto someplace you normally cant) as long as you can be killed when you are up there. however, cheats like flying around the map or infinite ammo/health are unacceptable!

hmm, but the best kind of cheating the the cheating is when you play a computer game that supports mods, and everyone is flying around the map with infinite ammo and low health! those can get epic! hahaha! and then one person is stuck on the ground and moves slow cause he came in late, but he has instant kill and massive amounts of health and we cant hit him! ahahaha

i agree with the majority of every1 here: single player games are fine, but online shooter cheat/hack should not be tolerated:onion01:games like COD4 & getting up to very high places can be funny & hilarious, but aimbotting & wallhacking is, in my opinion, should be a BIG NO NO:punch:

Most of the time I play online and it's pretty universal that everyone on PSN hates cheaters and hackers... You actually get banned from the network if someone reports you as a hack... It just ruins the game for everyone...
I do agree that it does prolong game life offline... but I never saw a reason to continue playing a game once I've beaten it except San Andreas (that game's epic to me:)) Hell, I didn't get into trophy collecting until recently, and it's still not critical to me as long as I enjoy the game:)

Cheating makes some games less fun though. I got some friends to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and before we actually had to work to get better weapons and armor. Then, one person started cheating, and everyone followed along. There's like no point to the game now.

Usually I only use cheats for games that actually do have cheats, like Age of Empires or Starcraft. I think games that have cheats created by others tend to lose their fun / make it too rigged for the cheater

I agree that once you beat the game, using cheats in games like GTA make them fun as hell.(Used cheats to ride a flaming motorcycle in san andreas)
However online cheating and hacking is just disgusting. Gunz is a perfect example of a community ruined by hacking. I have been kicked from a few games because I got alot of kills and people thought I was hacking and I can't really blame them because 1 out of 3 players probably are.

I came up with a sweet san anderas cheat I call ghost rider
1 enable the deadly vehicle cheat
2 find a motorcycle and shoot it til it catches fire
3 hop on and enjoy

Oops forgot an important detail to my cheat. Only hop off the motorcycle while on the move (bailout) or else it'll explode as you get off likely killing you. (Forgot about that until it happened to me this morning)

Agreed the biggest problem I have with cheats is that they tear away the satisfaction of beating tough opponents with your own skills

That happens to me alot in most online games and it's frustrating as hell especially when it's a close game.
And god help you if you get a perfect in a fighting game Ragequit all day
