Hey there, FTP-Anime folks

My name is Tom Dawes. I'm a 50 year old born-again Christian. I live 3 miles outside of a one light town in upstate New York [i.e. "the boonies"]
I'm a farmer turned self-employed man as "the Computer Tutor", finishing life disabled & enjoying a life of pain and lack of sleep.
I saw "Ninja Scroll" on tv and did some searching online to stumble on this site. This is the first forum I've ever contributed to, so cut the old man some slack?? I have belonged to a twoun and a couple of threeums, but never a forum before. WooHoo!!
I've been facinated for years with the artwork of anime, looking at many tutorials [just a mediocre artist myself].
After loving the humor in "Ninja Scroll" and the over the top abilities and battle scenes, I want more.
I don't think I'll be contributing many threads or responses or whatever you call all this typetalking .... I'm more of a reader of forums.
I don't like ALL anime and manga. I'm more interested in ancient times or fantasy stories rather than futuristic stories.
I read many of the other "Hello" threads and while I found some of you to be ruthless, I think I'll fit in fine here! I'm usually really nice but I AM ruthless [my sister Ruth legally changed her name to Sheena, he said as he hung his head in shame...]
As far as the Christian thing - I won't be preaching [not the place] but I DO live it, so if you're offended by people like me - well then I guess you're offended by people like me.muhahaha(Normally I hate those smileys but that one just wanted to live there.)

Looking forward to picking the expert anime brains here and learning...

Welcome to FTP-Anime its nice to see not only young people take interest in anime.

If you like fantasy anime's you should take a look at the animes studio ghibli made. like:

Howls Moving Castle
Spirited Away
and a lot more.

I'm not unhappy tho - I own my own home, I get disability, My wife meant it when she said "In sickness and in health - Til death do us part" and while my body gets worse by brain is regressing. Soon I'LL be 14 [in my head] like some of the members here!!

As for a response to your note. I don't know too many ninja movies, just mostly samurai stuff.

As I stated earlier, there's a hentai called Shadow, it's pretty good. About a girl aboard a Dutch ship that gets raised by ninja to be a ruthless seduction ninja. Let's just say she has the same fetish as Countess Elizabeth Bathory.

Anyhow, welcome to the site, sorry to hear about the pain part. But as a Born again Christian you understand how God helps the "overcomers"

Nice chatting with you, sir. Sounds like you got a lot of life experience points. Listening to people talk about their lives, I wonder if there really is such a thing as "normal" A friend of mine being treated for psychological disorders said it's the one term that has no definition in the DSM-IV.

Get as much living in as you can, we only get 120 years on this mudball. That's like less than a second when compared to the time scale of the universe.

I've enjoyed all of the movies I've seen although the ninja action in NS ROCKED!

I haven't enjoyed DBZ or Naruto to date, but maybe I'll give them a second chance now ... hmmm ... maybe not. I'm going through some of the threads now [top 5, top 10, etc.] for other titles to see. It'll probably be slow though, as living on disability ain't swimmin' in money. But I'm psyched [!] at finding new flicks for the eyes to feast on ...

I have to say that Naruto gets better after a while.
Have you tried Bleach?
There are a lot of samurai anime, I think Brokenhands knows quite a lot of them.
