2d or 3d

The majority of good sigs usually has a 3-d render or background, but those 3-d renders are usually more on either real people or 3-d video games (I see less anime 3-d renders because they're almost impossible to find a lot of them). Most of the sigs I see in here are those with 2-d renders and they're pretty decent. In the future (or right now), will 3-d surpass 2-d, and do you rely more on 3-d than 2-d renders or vice versa?

Think, PaRappa the rapper. In the game, what made it visually stunning, was a 2D rendered game character in a 3D world. It looked weird but added to the funky theme of the game.

Anime = 2D, so a 3D background would look weird.
I prefer to use 2D backgrounds, for 2 reasons:

I think they look better for anime.
I don't know how to make a decent 3D background XD

oh btw, I think 2d renders that look like 3d would count as 2d, they give out a 3d-ish look

lol, i enjoy making sigs and stuff, but i've no idea what a render is...anyone care to explain? or r u all gonna make me use google XD
i suppose depending on the pic, you'd have to cordinate :) 2d pic, 2d background, etc.

oh, well i have 2-d backgrounds if any, and well, as for renders.......um, the ones i made where when i didn't even know u could cut stuff out, so.....um, yea.....actually i made some recently, but i just extnded the background, not made my own....didn't know how to use the "pen tool" thing...

well.. there are getting to be more and more 3D sigs out there, mostly celebrities.. but I don't think it will surpass 2D renders particularly because of the anime fanbase.. I mean, you usually make or use sigs that feature characters you like, right? I don't see 2D anime dying out in the near future.. for one, I still prefer anime characters on my sigs.. even when using characters from fighting games which are mostly 3D, now, I still prefer their anime art versions.. ^^

"render" is the image of the person or object in the sig.

it's loosely used in GFX so sometimes it just means a cut-out image but since not all GFX makers use cut-out images, it can just refer to the main character in a GFX.
